Aki Ishkode Instructions
Boozhoo (Welcome) and miigwech (thank you) for choosing ChippewaChic's Aki Ishkode (Earth lamp).
To help you get started with, and caring for, your Aki Ishkode we've created this guide to help you get the most life out of your new asin (stone).
Filling and Refilling your Aki Ishkode
Our asin come with 1.5 or 3.5 ounce custom reservoir tins. We've found it easiest to measure out the Ultra-Pure Paraffin Oil before filling as to not overfill the reservoir
It is highly recommended to use Ultra-Pure Paraffin Oil as it is smokeless when the wick is at the appropriate height for indoor use
Ultra-Pure Paraffin Oil can be purchased at most craft / hobby / art / online stores
Carefully remove the Glass insert and Wick from the asin.
Do not remove the wick from the insert
Place the funnel in the hole.
Slowly pour oil into the funnel and let it seep down into the reservoir
You may need to pull the funnel up just enough to create an air gap between the asin and funnel
Reinsert the Glass insert and Wick twisting gently as you slide it back in until the glass flange is seated on the asin
Controlling your Aki Ishkode
Each ounce of fuel will burn for approximately 2 hours with wick stickout at 1/16"
If you don't use all of the fuel in the reservoir in a single use be careful when you go to relight your Aki Ishkode
Oil left in the reservoir will be absorbed by the wick and may have a larger than intended flame - This will eventually burn off however
The size of the flame is dependent on the length of exposed wicking above the Glass insert - The longer the stick out the larger the flame
Very little stick out will result in an almost smokeless flame that you can use inside
The Wick is made of fiberglass and if used properly should last almost forever
Wick stickout barely 1/16" above the top of the rim
Wick stickout about 1/4" above the top of the rim
